Note:  the Team Challenge will take place at our next BJJ and no-gi event:

    http://www.nhbgear.com/forum/index.php/topic,73740.0.html

US Grappling presents our first Team Challenge

Four representatives from each team will face off in the following weight divisions:

    -149.9 and below
    -up to 169.9
    -up to 189.9
    -190 and above

The matches will be no-gi, tournament format.  Each team will be awarded 5 points for each grappler finishing in first place, 3 points for 2nd place, and 2 points for 3rd place.  As a tie-breaker, the team with the most submissions will get the win.

The winning 4-man team from the Team Challenge will receive $1000 CASH.... AND... 200 overall Team Points.

    The rules:

    1.  Each team MUST register each competitor online at www.usgrappling.us.
    2.  Each team has to field 4 competitors.

AND.... The team with the most team points wins 50 custom US Grappling patches, 50 custom US Grappling T-shirts, and a GIANT team trophy.  Remember- the winning Team Challenge winners' team receives 200 points.  This way, the playing field is leveled- if you have a really good smaller team, you can win the Team Challenge and potentially win the team points (normal division winners get 5 team points).  To further even things up, for the first time, we're going to have kids' team points and adult team points separate!
This all takes place at US Grappling's submission grappling and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu tournament at the Combat Sports North American Championships.
    July 14th .  Richmond, VA.
(at The Showplace, 3000 Mechanicsville Turnpike, 23223)

Over 100 gi and no-gi divisions for adult men, women, teens, children, and masters.

Stay tuned to www.usgrappling.us for full info.

    Teams to be represented:

    -Team NJMA/Balance (NJ)
    -Capital Jiu Jitsu (DC)
    -Team Lloyd Irvin (MD)
    -BJJ Revolution Team (CA/VA)
    -Gustavo Machado BJJ (VA)
    -Maguilla BJJ (MD)
    -Yamasaki Jiu Jitsu (VA/MD)
    -Alliance (GA)

great idea but does the winning team get shirts or patches? you have both posted. also, does the team have to train under the same banner?

that 190 and above needs a cut-off limit. like 190-215lbs or something. some poor 190lbs is going to get smashed by a 280lbs guy.

190 pounder should just cut the 0.1 pound and make 189 IMO.

I thought that maybe we should have a team weight limit, like maybe 725 pounds total or something.
