    Team Challenge results:

    Up to 149.9
    1)  Wilson Reis (LIMAA)
    2)  Trey Martin (BJJ Revolution)
    3)  Jason Minor (Capital JJ, I think)

    Up to 169.9
    1)  Ryan Hall (LIMAA)
    2)  Tommy Yun (BJJ Revolution)
    3)  Vince Borden (Gustavo Machado)

    Up to 189.9
    1)  Brendan Raedy (YJJ)
    2)  Kenny Berger (LIMAA)
    3)

    Over 190
    1)  Chris Moriarty (Alliance)
    2)  Garrett Bontempo (Capital JJ)
    3)

I will get the 3rd place guys from the last two divisions when I track down the paper brackets.

LIMAA took first in the Team Challenge.
BJJ Revolution took second in the Team Challenge.
Alliance took third in the Team Challenge.  It was a 3 way tie, but thanks to Chris Moriarty's submission victories, Alliance gets the extra points.  Chris submitted 2 of 3 opponents.

More results will be coming soon!

Oh, HUGE congrats to Tommy Noooo!!  He caught Chace in the Team Challenge, and took second place in the advanced no gi division, losing to Dave Jacobs.

Saw the Luis (Yamasaki) vs Easton (Lloyd) match which was great, with Luis catching Easton in a tight triangle that he fought for a while, finally tapping to a tight arm bar from the triangle choke.  Very exciting match!

Congrats to Ivan Fanton from Gustavo's taking second in no-gi advanced absolute division after four/five matches.  Great to see him on the mats again.

Props to Vince Borden from Gustavo's catching Jocobs in rd. 1.  Lost only by advantage to Hall.  Vince has been tearing it up lately in advanced no-gi as a purple in bjj.

3rd place in the up to 189 was Lee Synkowski (Maguilla)

Did anyone take pictures at this one, like they did at Delaware? I saw a photographer during the team challenge but dont remember seeing any wandering around during the event. (Obviously not expecting them to be posted yet just wondering if they were taken)

    Event was great...as always

medora was there taking pix. i was bummed i didn't get to talk to her, but i'm sure her photos will be awesome.

not having seen the east coast guys compete much besides ryan hall, wilson reis, and dave jacobs, i was really impressed with luis pantoja and seph smith. luis is super technical while seph has amazing speed. i guess since seph's time on this planet is limited due to his condition, he's trying to pack all the jiu-jitsu he can into his few remaining years.

tommy yun is the real deal. hard to believe he's only been training a little over a year.

and congrats to my boy trey for putting on a great showing in the team challenge.

on a final note, i would like to apologize for the behavior of the lone west coaster to compete... val. the only thing I can say is that she is a new transplant and not a real californian. there's no excuse for picking on little girls 30 pounds lighter than you and then taking the poor child's instructors money afterwards. maybe you should stick to reffing. oh wait...

but seriously, a real californian wouldn't have given the money back and would've laughed maniacally after winning the match.

and another thing- you east coasters have a long way to guy in terms of coaching. you'll never get any good stories to tell about tournies until the coaches learn to  scream at the refs more. way too polite and accepting. the most aggressive is neto from yamasaki and he's like a blue belt in yelling at refs. east coast coaches need to get some tape in on guys like cleber, laimon, and many others if there's to be any hope for you. there wasn't even one water bottle thrown or any shoes stolen at the tournament. very disappointing.

Congratulations to all teams that competed.  Each team did well in one way or another.

Obviously, I'm a little biased here, but Trey and Tommy both put on great shows out there and I'm proud of both guys.  Trey won his second fight despite an early injury and went on to ref in spite of a swollen knee- lots of mAn points for him (even though he's under 150 pounds and therefore not a real mAn).

What, no props to Capital Jiu-Jitsu for pulling off 4th place in the Team Event, and to Garrett Bontempo for (at 191.5lbs) his 2nd place performance in the over 190lbs division?  Remember, this guy has been training Jiu-Jitsu for less than any other guy at the Team Event!  Though his wrestling is definitely something to see!!!

Another great tournament by US Grappling.

Luis Pantoja was on FIRE in the Lightweight Brown Belt gi division!  Beating Noah and Mike Easton in the same day is a huge accomplishment, I couldn't be happier for my friend and training partner who has been working especially hard lately.

Congrats to Bennett Fisher (DaCrippler) and Brendan (Chicken and Waffles) as well for outstanding showings.
