What, no props to Capital Jiu-Jitsu for pulling off 4th place in the Team Event, and to Garrett Bontempo for (at 191.5lbs) his 2nd place performance in the over 190lbs division? Remember, this guy has been training Jiu-Jitsu for less than any other guy at the Team Event! Though his wrestling is definitely something to see!!!
That is great. Especially when you consider the number of black belt academies in that area.

It was one thing to have a solid competition team in DC in the late 90s/early 00s when other than Yamasaki and later on Lloyd, there weren't a lot of black belt run schools. Now there are far more schools, and far more black belts. I don't mean to minimize the achievements of any of the teachers in the area, but I'm really impressed with what Jeremy is doing.

Agreed, much props to Jeremy and everyone over at Capital. Bottom line: You get out of training what you put into it and these guys are proving that.
Plus they drink a lot of coffee so they are good in my book!

Damn, Medora, that is a NICE shot!
(The look on Macauley's face is worth an extra 10 points, I think!)

Holy crap! LOL.... I think they should have raised Macauley's hand after the match for best spectator facial expression ever!

Great tourney, guys!
I'd like to congratulate my friend, longtime training partner, and student Trey Martin for gutting out a fantastic performance in the team challenge. He's an old bg o' bones, but a tough bag o' bones, and an inspiration to us younger guys.
I'd also like to congratulate Val for an awesome performance. She kicked ass!
