My Cobra Kai experience!
« on: June 22, 2007, 03:32:57 PM »
Wednesday night I stopped in to train at cobra kai while in vegas.  I started off in Scott Bierri's basic class, we went over some basics to start off and then did some live rolling.  After rolling with a couple guys, i guess scott saw that i was having an easy time so he was cool enough to jump in and roll with me, i pulled half and to my suprise and i think everyone there  hit a half butterfly sweep, and i think after that he turned it up and i was swept then he countered my next half guard attempt with some darce attemtps until he finally locked one in tight and i was done.  We then went to the drills class and were doing positional drills, starting in open guard i proceeded to tap like 6 or 7 guys straight and Marc saw this so he walks up and shakes my hand and proceeds to cut thru my guard lock up a darce then i defended and he took my back and choked me out in about 45 seconds.  It was great in a period of 2 hours i was choked mutiple times by scott, marc and spangler, then they showed me a few techniques.  The instruction was top notch and everyone was cool as hell, nobody was trying to hurt me because i was an outsider or anything of the sort.    Thanks guys see you in a couple weeks. Here are some pics of me rolling  with bierri.

Sorry, I am not an arrogant person, and i see how it will be perceived by most as being that way, i was more excited that i was doing well and getting to roll with some good guys.

Definately tough, had to quit before class was over,  i could feel the spicy guacamole sauce from el polo loco coming up at the end, didnt think it would leave a good impression to puke that s**t up on the mats. :*o

Warning, eating 2 BRC burritos and 2 spicy jack quesa dillas with spicy guacamole 2 hours before training with elite grapplers has a profound negative impact on performance. How do you make that sauce, its so good.

From my point of view, i went to ck and rolled with about 12 or 13 different people and was only subbed by people with the name laimon, spangler, and bierri, and some bald guy who was doing leg locks that i wasnt about to mess around with,  so all in all i say i did ok.  My goal for next time is to last more than a minute with laimon and hopefully get to roll with glover.

Sounds like you did great and they were real gentlemen who didn't let their ego get in the way. But maybe the forum isn't the best place to share the experience - it could be perceived as counting coup, a little (unintentionally) disrespectful. Maybe consider deleting this thread, you can do it easily since you started it.

But congrats in any case.
What, me hurry?
