I just purchased a bunch of MMA gear and it was such a great experience that I got to give the website some props. The website was very professional and easy to use, and I received my order real fast by mail. They had a great selection of MMA gear and apparel and their prices are awesome.

LOL @ all the close minded jiu-jitsu guys accusing others of being close minded.  The ironing is delicious!

Judo is by far the superior art.  Jacare, Xande, Saulo, Sperry, Marcelo all train or at one time trained Judo.

    Huh  Huh
These guys decided to devote most of their life to training an inferior art then?

Judo is effective. BJJ is effective.  But I'd rather judo throw a guy on concrete rather than trying to pull guard in a street fight.

Right tool for the right job.

Everyone would. Gracie Self Defense is Judo, really. But what if you are smaller or sucker-punched. Then having a good guard is good for getting out of there...

A judo BB smokes a BJJ blackbelts stand up game 9 out of 10 times, thats just common sense. If you have to question that your drinking too much of the kool aid.

Judo comes from old school Ju Jutsu, BJJ comes from the same old school Ju Jutsu.  So Pedro is dissing his own art.

Judo vs. BJJ?  I remember watching BJ Penn as a white belt (or was it blue) blasting through many Judo BB's.  BJ was taking them down and submitting them like it was nothing.  Those superior Judo throws didn't work on him at all.  Those BB's were unable to defend a young BJ Penn's sloppy double leg takedowns.

There will always be snobby haters in every art, but, IT'S ALL GRAPPLING and we should study all of it.  I do this for the love of grappling, not just one aspect of it.

You wont see the BJ Penn scenario a lot, in fact you would rarely ever see it, you have to realize that its BJ Penn doing that, the guy got his BB in record time and is obviously a naturally gifted fighter and athlete, so thats not the best example.
Good point about the grappling arts though and i agree 100%. Each one has evolved and takes so much from the other that to nitpick over which one is best is just silly.

Judo is a million times more tiring and harder on the body... fact.

i'm talking about going to a school that trains hardcore...

i remember my first time doing standup at J.Morris' dojo... i thought i would be fine cardio wise due to bjj and wrestling... these fuckers were going for 5 minute rounds w/ 20 second break for an hour straight... granted, most the guys in there were training for upcoming big tournaments... but that kind of training had me dead within a few rounds.

Judo and Bjj are the same with different rules and focuses.

Comparing a top level Judo school to an everyday BJJ school is apples and oranges.

I'm pretty sure that if you go to BTT, Brasa, ect..... you'd see the same level of training out of the competition teams.

I've trained with some older high level Judo guys who have an Immense knowledge on the ground. not the same style as bjj, but outstanding ground work.

You do realize that BJ Penn's father is a Judo BB?

I'm not going to get into the whole Judo vs. BJJ debate.....that's been covered almost as much as any "Rickson" thread around here.

However I would like to point something out.   All this talk of Judo being so much more difficult in the conditioning area vs. BJJ.......I call B.S. on that one.  Maybe a lot of Judo schools train harder than YOU do....but there are a lot of BJJ guys that train ridiculously hard.  The fact is...laziness in training is pretty common in BJJ.  Just don't lump everyone that trains in the same basket.  There are plenty of schools and individuals out there that train just as hard if not harder than Judo.  Granted...there is a higher rate of injury in Judo but I wouldn't say that they all train harder.

Exactly......I would love to invite anyone who thinks that BJJ guys don't train all that hard vs. Judo to one of my Sunday guard classes.
