Hi people, how are you? I was just wondering if many of you are familiar with and have been following the career of Guillerme Mendes? If so can anyone talk a little about or explain his game (strengths, weaknesses, best techniques, guard player, passer, best sweeps, finishes ec)? The reason I ask is because I will be attending one of his seminars in a couple of weeks and would like to learn some of his most high percentage techniques. In addition to this I am hoping to get an interview and have him demonstrate a couple of techniques for my blog www.jiujitsukingdom.wordpress.com Thanks in advance and I hope you all have a great weekend!
    Kind Regards

Why would anyone want to read a blog written by a guy who doesn't know anything about what he is blogging about?

You should know the answer to those questions better than 90% of bjjers if you want to have a blog..

If all of us help you who will read it?

Thanks swole11 much appreciated, and yes I live in Australia. I will be attending his seminar at my good friend Liam's gym in Sydney on 16th November! Really looking forward to it, its always nice to learn from new and different people! I have heard quite a bit about the Mendes brothers and saw both of them fight in both the gi and no gi ADCC tournaments this year! Very impressive!!!

Hey leftarmbar, my blog is about BJJ in general, which I have been practising for about 11 years now. The blog is designed to help my friends, students and even myself grow in the art! As far as knowing all the answers to every question, I am quite sure that most top black belt cmpetitors in the art will tell you that they are still learning! Particularly about new positions and techniques that some of the new up and coming competitors like the Mendes brothers are using such as 50/50 guard and how to pass it! There has been quite a bit of debate about it of late and even "the general" Fabio Gurgel has put up a few clips on what him and his team have been working on to combat it!
    Kind Regards

P.S. If you dont want to read it, you dont have to mate. It's a free country!

when i think of the mendes brothers i think about De La Riva - they are great at taking the back from De La Riva and they have nasty omoplatas - Guillerme seems to be more into passing now though

That's cool Kosta, each to their own!  Spank

And felipe_r, I wish!!!  Smiley Although I am a 95kg brown belt based out of Sydney, Australia and am focused on building and growing my gym, so not likely mate!  Wink P.S. If you dont believe me there are photos on my blog showing that I a am a bigger guy! My real intention is that I want to learn Guillerme Mendes's highest percentage moves and game from him, just as I like to do so from anyone I meet and learn from.
Personally I am from the Gracie Sydney Academy so my game is more basic and rooted in the fundamentals however I have made a concerted effort to study Marcelo Garcia's game for the last 12 months and have adapted a lot of his game into my own game with much success!
I also figured that this would have been one of the best places to ask about Guillerme Mendes, as there are obviously a lot of highly trained and educated Jiujitsu players on here and I feel it's always best to ask a fan as they are probably more familiar with his game than others. But thanks for reading and sharing your thoughts.

Swole11, I'll be sure t do as you say and check the dates!  Smiley

VisBjj thank you for your input, it is greatly apppreciated!
