My Review:

I received the gi in about 4 days after ordering.  That's from Hawaii to Georgia.  The conditions were perfect ( 90 degrees with 80% humidity) for testing a gi that makes it's claim to fame being light and for hot weather training.

First, the gi is sharp looking and very well made.  I did have to go with the black one and that's not to my typical taste as it makes me feel like I'm wearing a hip ninja costume.  However, like I said above it is very sharp looking.

FIT:  I always wear an A1 and that is what I ordered and received.  The top is quite roomy in the body.  This made me feel like I was swimming in a tent.  I say tent b/c that's what the ripstop feels like.  Others have commented about how light the gi is and it is light in weight.  However this sucker does not breathe.  I want to say it doesn't breathe at all and it doesn't absorb sweat.  Why that's good I don't know but I wasn't expecting this and did not like it.   I had sweat from my arms dripping out of the sleeve opening.  Those of you who wipe your browl (sp?) with the sleeve can forget that with this top.  In all fairness, I should have expected this from the kimono specs given on both the Kaui website and consumer reviews.  One person said "oh, I was almost chilled the top wicked away the sweat so well".   HUH?  I got a chill too; because I  was dripping wet inside this thing like an Everlast plastic suit.  The pants have a good fit and similar feel to Atama's ripstop jobbers.

Recommendation:  Would I recommend this gi??? Hmm. I don't know.  I really think that gis choice is a personal thing like choosing a chick or your drawers.  This gi is very sharp looking and extrememly well made.  I wrote this review specifically because all the reviews I had read talked up how great and light the gi is, but for me it was a hotbox and had I read a review that said that I would have reconsidered my order based on knowing my preferense in material feel.

Hayabusa makes an all rip-stop gi for $199. It's sharp and  best of all... easily ordered from their web site.

Looks nice, except for the tribal embroidering on the shoulders.

I've rolled in this gi for a couple weeks now and it's quickly becoming one of my favorites.  My only complaint about the kauai is that it DOES NOT wick sweat away from your body as well as other types of fabric; the gi tended to stick to me limiting some of my movements.  On the flip side, I've had a few people I've rolled with tell me that it's very hard to grab onto especially when you've got that good sweat going.

Props to BlakToe for giving me a great deal on his Kauai Kimono!

Send me a PM if you want to get rid of your Kauai Kimono A1.  Thanks
