Fellow Forum Members,
It is with a heavy heart and tears in my eyes that i write this post, my good friend and mentor Joe Priole passed away this morning. He will be remembered by many for being a great martial artist, i will remember him most for being a great friend.
Joe fought a 2 year year battle against cancer (non hodgkins lymphoma) never once conceding anyhting mentally or spiritually to the disease.
I will miss him.
Please keep his family in your prayers.

Man, I've been walking around dazed since Marco called me this morning. Joe was one of the first friends I made in BJJ outside of my own school. He was the very first guy I sponsored when I owned Tribe Fightwear. When I tore my knee, Joe called me every day for a week to check on me. People in my own family didn't even do that. Joe was a truly special guy, the kind of honest and genuinely good guy you don't find that often. I am proud to have known him and honored to call him my friend.
I will truly miss Joe.
RIP my friend.

I never met Joe, but this hits me hard. When his story was first posted, I felt kinda connected to him because he was a lifelong martial artist and he was facing lymphoma, while I had once had a pretty bad scare that I had the disease as well (I didn't, thank God).
Ive tried following his progress since then, but there wasnt much info coming in. Now to hear this... UGH.
RIP.

Here's Joe winning the IM&S in 2002. We had a blast that year, in fact, one of the greatest times I've had was there with Joe, Pat, Robert, Leonardo and myself all over Rio. I know this was kind of expected, but it doesn't make it any easier. The last time we talked was about all the good times we had in 2002 and the "Hermanator" in action in Rio!! LOL!! Hard to laugh through the tears. RIP Bro!!

This is very sad. RIP Joe. I only met him once, but he was a super nice guy and he has touched a lot of people.
My prayers are with Joe and his family and friends.
What happened? The last update on Joe was about ayear ago, and it was posted here that he was in recovery and was getting back onto the mat. I thought he was going to be ok.
